Senior Spotlight: Joanna Simon
A 4.0+ student at Lutheran Northwest, Joanna Simon is the Lutheran Northwest Class of 2020 Salutatorian. Her future plans include attending Oakland University. Joanna is a member of Woodside Bible Church in Troy and attended Avondale Middle School prior to coming to Lutheran Northwest.
Joanna participated in National Honor Society, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band and Mentoring while at Lutheran Northwest. In addition to outstanding academic achievements at Lutheran Northwest, Joanna was the National Honor Society Secretary, represented LHNW at the Junior Leadership Oakland Program, was accepted into the National Society of High School Scholars, and advanced to the state level for three years in the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association competition. Joanna earned the AP Scholar Award, the Science Department Award, and awards for Responsibility and Kindness, and was also selected as a Lutheran Northwest Student of the Month three times.
What made your experience at Lutheran Northwest special?
The countless memories that I have made throughout these years due to the amazing people at Northwest, including both teachers/faculty and friends.
What will you miss most about your time at Lutheran Northwest?
I will miss many of the teachers and some of the friends and people that I have met at Northwest.
Was there a teacher/staff member that had a positive impact on you?
There have been so many teachers that have made a positive impact on me throughout high school (there has not been one teacher who has had a negative impact on me). If I had to pick one, I would say Mrs. Baughman. She has been extremely supportive and caring throughout these years. She has encouraged me throughout the entire college process and guided me through it. On top of it all, I have learned so much in her classes.
