NLSW Spotlight: London Greene (St. John Fraser)

For National Lutheran Schools Week, Lutheran Northwest is highlighting some of the amazing Lutheran elementary schools with which we are blessed to partner in ministry.

One of those schools is St. John Lutheran in Fraser. We caught up with Junior London Greene (‘22), a St. John Fraser alum, to learn first-hand about her experiences at St. John and at Lutheran Northwest.

What is your favorite memory from grade school?

My favorite memory from grade school is when our school partnered up with the organization “Kids Against Hunger.” As a whole school we packaged hundreds of bags of food that were sent off to children in need. It was such an eye opening experience and something I never will forget!

Which teacher or coach from St. John made the biggest impact on your grade school experience?

My 6th grade teacher Mrs. Machemer! In addition to being my 6th grade teacher she was also my English teacher for grades 7 and 8. She made the biggest impact on my grade school experience because she helped me find my love for English and writing. She prepared me for high school in many aspects and truly shaped me into the writer I am today.

Which teacher or coach from Lutheran Northwest has made the biggest impact on your high school experience?

Señora DeLanoy! Señora is someone I can always go to if I have a problem! Whether I have a problem at school, at home, or just need a pop tart, I know that I can go to her and she will help me in any way she can. In life you always hope that there is that one person who is always there for you-who listens to you, comforts you, and laughs with you. For me, along with many other students, that one person is Señora DeLanoy.

What is your favorite chapel memory from Lutheran Northwest?

I don't have a specific "favorite" chapel memory but I am struck by the fact that throughout the pandemic the staff and faculty at LHNW has remained committed to bringing us students the word of God via email, zoom, and social media. Their dedication and continued faithfulness to their student body has been one of the most positive and uplifting gifts we have received these pasts months.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us, London!

God’s Blessings, St. John Fraser!
