A Very Special Evening at Lutheran Northwest
On Friday, February 21, 2020, Lutheran Northwest invited Crusaders past, present and future to join us at the high school for an epic evening, including:
FOUR Basketball Games
(Freshmen Boys, Varsity Girls, JV Boys & Varsity Boys: All were victorious!)
Athletics Hall of Fame Induction, Class of 2020
Congratulations, Gentlemen!
Steve Lemke: Steve’s Crusader playing career spanned 1989-1993 & included setting 4 football school records & earning 10 varsity letters. Steve was Lutheran Northwest’s first 4-year starting quarterback!
Tim Lochhead: Tim helped launch Lutheran Northwest athletics in his time here (1987-1994). He was varsity boys basketball coach from ‘87-’94, varsity girls basketball coach from ‘91-’93, varsity football coach from ‘87-’88 and varsity baseball coach from ‘88-’94. Girls basketball made it to the state tournament while he was coach, and his teams made back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances!
Jason Rubel: Jason’s Crusader playing career spanned 1989-1993. In his time here, Jason won Football All-State recognition & Football Conference MVP (both in ‘92), set 5 school records, won 2 all-area awards, 6 all-conference awards, 4 team MVP awards & 10 varsity letter awards!
Recognition of Crusader Tommy Schomaker
As a Lutheran Northwest 2019 graduate, Tommy and the story of his heart transplant are familiar to many in the Crusader family. Between games on Friday, we celebrated with Tommy as a family and gave thanks to God for bringing Tommy through his recent battle with cancer!
Grade School Night
More than 70 elementary students from six different Lutheran schools and several public schools joined us for the evening! Highlights included seeing Pastors & Youth Directors from area congregations compete in a half-court shot competition; all ages competing for free pizza in a 3-point shot contest; and St. John Rochester’s cheer/dance squad joining the Crusader squad for the evening. So awesome to see these future Crusaders here at Lutheran Northwest!
