Beth Berg

Lutheran Northwest

Class of 2021

For National Lutheran Schools Week, Lutheran Northwest is highlighting some of the amazing Lutheran elementary schools with which we are blessed to partner in ministry.

One of those schools is Our Shepherd Lutheran in Birmingham. We caught up with Senior Beth Berg (‘21), an Our Shepherd alum, to learn first-hand about her experiences at Our Shepherd and at Lutheran Northwest.

What is your favorite memory from grade school?

My favorite memory from grade school was my 8th grade year - I had so much fun with my friends and my teachers and had many different unique opportunities for activities outside of school as well, including the Washington, D.C. trip.

Which teacher or coach from Our Shepherd made the biggest impact on your grade school experience?

My 6th grade home room and science teacher, Mrs. Spanos, made the biggest impact on my grade school experience. She instilled within me a love for science and was so compassionate towards all of us students, and is a big reason why I am going into nursing after high school.

Which teacher or coach from Lutheran Northwest has made the biggest impact on your high school experience?

Mrs. DeLanoy has been such a positive influence for me throughout high school. She really is like my second mom, and not only has made my 4 years of Spanish class fun and exciting, but she truly cares for me and all of my classmates with her whole heart and does so much for us every single day. She has impacted all of us in more ways than she will ever know!

What is your favorite chapel memory from Lutheran Northwest?

My favorite chapel memory at Lutheran Northwest was when Mr. Topel brought in his grandson. That was a very memorable message and Abel was absolutely adorable!

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us, Beth!

God’s Blessings, Our Shepherd Birmingham!
