Lutheran Northwest Wins Conference Title

Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest secured the MIAC championship on Thursday with a 13-4 win over Parkway Christian.

“I am extremely proud of these young men. It’s amazing what they have been able to accomplish,” Lutheran Northwest coach Nick Capoferi said. “We have no seniors in the program. Our juniors have really stepped up and the sophomores are making contributions. It’s been fun watching these guys grow up this year and cross off the first one of their goals, to win the league.”

Three pitchers – Jack Teelander, Trevor Capoferi, and Jett Breithaupt – combined for 11 strikeouts on the mound while allowing just six hits.

At the plate, Max Vollmert, Matt Gunn and Eric Helmer each had two hits and two RBI to lead the Crusaders. Jett Breithaupt drew four walks and scored three runs.
