Welcome to Lutheran Northwest, Miss Brauer & Mrs. Hicks!

Lutheran Northwest is proud to introduce two new staff members joining us this school year!

Miss Jennifer Brauer is our new Choir Director and joins the ranks of our Math Department as well. Miss Brauer comes to Lutheran Northwest from Lutheran High School of St. Charles County (Missouri), where she established the Choir program and went on to lead it for 18 years.

A Detroit native, Miss Brauer attended our sister school, Lutheran Westland, for high school. (Coincidentally, one of her choir directors there was Mr. Kurt von Kampen, father of our outgoing director Paul.)  Miss Brauer received her Bachelor’s degree from Concordia Ann Arbor before going on to earn a Master’s in Music Education from the University of Missouri in St. Louis and a Master’s in Vocal Performance from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville.

Miss Brauer is happy to be back home in the Detroit area and looking forward to stepping into an established, thriving Choir program here at Lutheran Northwest. She already has some exciting new ideas to share with our Crusader family!

Mrs. Andrea Hicks, from Lutheran Special Education Ministries, is our new Learning Consultant. With a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Special Education (both from the University of North Florida) and 20 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Hicks is well equipped to assist and serve as a resource for our students as well our teachers.

Mrs. Hicks has lived “all over” as a military wife but, with her husband now retired from the Navy, their family of five is putting down roots in Michigan. She looks forward to serving in a Christian school environment after her years of teaching in public schools. Mrs. Hicks will be working at Lutheran Northwest three afternoons per week, and we are thrilled that she’s here!
