Lutheran Northwest is planning a Career Day for students!

Lutheran Northwest students will have the opportunity to hear professionals speak about their different careers, collect handouts and brochures that tell about a variety of occupations, as well as explore all the possibilities available in the world of work.  Crucial to the success of the Career Day are adults who are willing to come in and speak about the various aspects of their work.

Would you please consider presenting?

Each speaker will be part of a panel of career professionals that will speak about the options in a generalized career cluster. There will be between 3-5 speakers on each career cluster. For example, the health care panel could include a nurse, doctor, speech therapist, histologist, and occupational therapist.  This will allow students to hear about a variety of careers in the healthcare field. Each panel would be presenting twice for an hour each time. Each presentation covers some of the topics below:

  • Description of your profession

  • Changes that have occurred in your profession: technology, human resources, etc. 

  • Options within your profession

  • Years and type of education or training beyond high school

  • Characteristics and traits that people in your occupation should possess

  • Estimated starting salary and salary cap

  • Advancement opportunities

  • Any “typical” on the job experiences

  • Description of working environment

  • Any specific schools that possess a quality program in your field

  • Question and Answer period
