Valedictorian
A 4.0+ student at Lutheran Northwest, Grace Vollmert is one of the Lutheran Northwest Class of 2020 Valedictorians. Her future plans include attending Hope College (Holland, MI). Her home congregation is Our Shepherd Birmingham, and Grace also attended Our Shepherd for grade school.
Grace participated in National Honor Society, Drama, Cross Country, Mentor, & Leadership Cohort while at Lutheran Northwest. In addition to outstanding academic achievements at Lutheran Northwest, Grace earned four Varsity letters in Cross Country, a Varsity letter in Drama, a Cross Country All-Conference Award, an Academic Excellence Award in Cross Country, and the Most Spirited Cross Country Award. Grace has been recognized as a Lutheran Northwest Student of the Month three times and received the 2018 Service Award as well as the 2019 Stewardship Award.
What made your experience at Lutheran Northwest special?
The teachers have definitely made my time at Northwest special. They have been great mentors and have encouraged me in all my studies. The Cross Country team and the Drama Troupe have all made my time at Northwest very enjoyable. They have both given me life-long friends and wonderful memories that I will always smile upon. My friends that I have met during my four years here have given me many laughs and good times that I will never forget.
What will you miss most about your time at Lutheran Northwest?
I will miss the teachers and seeing my close friends every day. I will also miss the spirit weeks and all the fun, crazy, time I had with my class during them and the dances.
Was there a teacher/staff member that had a positive impact on you?
A teacher that had a positive impact on me was Mrs. Baughman. From my freshman year to my senior year I have taken three classes with her: Freshman Biology, A.P. Biology and Anatomy and Physiology. She has helped me with classes and written multiple recommendations for me. She is a wonderful teacher and since I love science and biology she has helped me learn more about the topics and help me pursue a career in science and as a pediatrician.
