Valedictorian
A 4.0+ student at Lutheran Northwest, Madelyn Vitu is one of the Lutheran Northwest Class of 2020 Valedictorians. Her future plans include attending Hope College (Holland, MI). Her home congregation is St. John Rochester, and Madelyn also attended St. John Rochester for grade school.
Madelyn participated in Tennis, STEM, National Honor Society, Volleyball, Mentor, & Leadership Cohort while at Lutheran Northwest. In addition to outstanding academic achievements at Lutheran Northwest, Madelyn was the National Honor Society Vice President, Varsity Tennis Captain, and Varsity Volleyball Captain. She earned the Crusader Award, Tennis- All-Conference & All-Academic Awards, and Volleyball- All-Region, All-Conference, & All-State Academic Awards.
What made your experience at Lutheran Northwest special?
My experience at Lutheran Northwest was made special by relationships with not only friends and classmates but with teachers as well. I feel like they are all passionate about what they teach, and they are invested in each student's education. Being able to learn in a Christ centered environment with all the special people at Northwest really helped me grow over the past four years.
What will you miss most about your time at Lutheran Northwest?
I will miss dances and sporting events, but most of all I will miss being in a classroom learning and having fun with my friends.
Was there a teacher/staff member that had a positive impact on you?
The two teachers who impacted me the most are Mrs. Baughman and Mrs. DeLanoy. I loved having Mrs. Baughman as a teacher for Biology, AP Biology and Honors Anatomy because she taught me so much and helped me understand my interest in science and discover that is what I want to pursue. Mrs. DeLanoy was always so kind to all her students and genuinely cared for them. She also taught me so much about Spanish and even about life as well. I'll miss both of these teachers so much next year.
